Finally got the Beta of Office 2010 installed this week onto the computers and heard rumor of a new feature in Powerpoint.

In the newest Powerpoint 2010 you can publish your presentations to a website, and hand remote users a hyperlink to view the presentation!

And the use of this feature was so incredibly easy I couldn’t believe it!

Just start up Powerpoint and load up a presentation.

Then in the new Powerpoint 2010 just click on “FILE” and choose the new “SHARE” option and choose “Broadcast Slide Show” clicking on the large button to the right.

It will take you through a very simple wizard which will connect to the Office Live service on live.com.   You will need an account on here to try it out.  But the procedure is very simple.   Click on “Start Broadcast”, key in your credentials (only needed once generally per session). It will upload your presentation and present you with a Hyperlink to a temporary location on Live.com that you can send or give to people to allow them to view your presentation.

No credentials are required and they will see a synchronized view of your presentation.   Small businesses can easily take advantage of this (or consultants) for their clients.   No fancy WebEx or funky remote software is needed on the client side which is the beautiful part.  It’s all run in the backend on Live.com.

And that’s just ONE small beautiful piece of the new Office 2010.  It’s a huge back of goodies.   We’ll touch on another really nice feature in Outlook 2010 next time.
